Doris Bowen Ballard, 78, surrounded by her children, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, November 5, 2017, at the Baldwyn Nursing Home. She was born August 10, 1939 in Shannon to Littleton and Ida Marie Stevens. She was an accomplished seamstress and had worked at PeopleLounger for over 20 years. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading Christian books and listening to gospel music. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren.
Services will be 2 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
She is survived by her children; Terry Bowen of Chattanooga, TN, Mark Bowen (Anna) of Tupelo, David Bowen (Karen) of Saltillo, Jeff Bowen (Angie) of Nettleton and Melissa Tomason (Ross) of Nettleton; two sisters, Jeanette Harris of Booneville and Sue McMillican (Harry) of Zion, IL; two brothers, Milburn Stevens of Pontotoc and L.G. Stevens (Terrell) of Verona; ten grandchildren, Matthew Bowen, Danielle Bowen, Lexie Bowen, Jordan Tomason, Alexandria McCoy, Mark Bowen II, Ginger Bowen, Chad Bowen, Robin Bowen and Carrie Payne; six great-grandchildren, Kamiron Dickey, Anna Henson, Savannah Henson, Shelby Payne, Noah Payne and Emery Bowen McCoy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bonnie Stevens and one sister, Merle Ritter.
Pallbearers will be Mark Bowen II, Chad Bowen, Jordan Tomason, Blake McCoy, Matthew Bowen and Tim Stevens. Honorary Pallbearer will be Milburn Stevens.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 Monday.
