Mooreville—Mary Carnathan, 67, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born February 1, 1950, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. L.C. Edwards. Mary was a member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as pianist for over 40 years. She was active in the United Methodist Women’s group, loved attending church events and going on mission trips. She worked 27 years at the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. Mary enjoyed shopping with her friends and traveling, especially to the mountains and the beach. Family time and her grandchildren meant the world to her.

Services will be 2 pm Thursday at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Eric Sanford and Bro. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mary leaves behind her twin daughters, Carolyn Green (Jeff) of Tupelo and Marilyn Reed (Sammy) of Auburn Community; her sisters, Annie Lee Inmon of Nettleton and Macie Williams (Elton), all of Tupelo; a brother, David Edwards of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Kelsey Gilentine, Rob Herring, Jordan Gillentine, Peyton Reed , Patrick Green (Eva), Bryan Reed (Mandy), Brent Reed, and Anna Green; two great grandchildren, Greyson Reed and Griffin Reed; her mother-in-law, Helen (Sullivan) Brann; brothers-in-law, Berny Carnathan (Patsy) and James Carnathan (Barbara); a sister-in-law, Cathy Hill (Jerry); a special friend, Alvie Butler; her best friend who was like a sister, Brenda Jackson Mann; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Sullivan and Joe Carnathan; her parents; and two brothers, J.C. Edwards and Boyce Edwards.

Pallbearers will be Mike Edwards, Mark Carnathan, Bryan Reed, Brent Reed, Rob Herring, Patrick Green, and Peyton Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be James Coggin, Mike Boren, Wesley Edwards, Clay Coggin and Christopher Morgan.
