Obituary for Willie Hill

Tupelo— Willie G. “Motor” Hill passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital, Desoto at the age of 69. A lifelong resident of Tupelo, he was born February 6, 1948 to Willie Hill and Vanilla Key. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He retired from Eljer Industries as a supervisor and was fondly known by coworkers as Big Daddy.

Services with military honors will be at 2 PM Saturday at the Mt. Zion Community Church in Guntown with Pastor Sammy Agnew officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He leaves behind his children, Lillian Young, Mary Ann Swingrum, Saneki Donald, Quintina Gardner, Lydia M. Williams of St. Louis, MO, Tonya Williams, Brenda Pounds, Kathy Thompson, and Fred Washington; his godchild, Tracy White; sisters, Dorothy Allen (John), Emma Crayton, Cynthia White, Demetris Hill of Waterloo, OH; brothers, Otis Hill, Tom Hill (Mary), Earnest White (Stella), Earnie L. White (Stephanie), and Dave Hill; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, George and Lena Welch.

Pallbearers will be Luzon Rivers, James Hall, Rahiem Smith, Shun Bass, Quentin Osbourne, Lazente Williams, Odell Shackerford, and Alonzo White. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Perry, Eddie Buchanan, Bobby Hall, John Long, Larry Gray, Early Swanson, Jr., Clifton Price and Jessie Long.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home.
