Obituary for Jessie Burroughs Vaughn

Jessie Burroughs Vaughn (86) of Memphis, Tn. went to be with God and to celebrate her Mother’s birthday on May 10, 2016. Mrs. Vaughn was a communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis for many years. She was a registered nurse for many years with John Gaston and Methodist hospitals of Memphis. Dr Robert McEwen a physician whom she worked with in both hospitals as well as his private practice wanted it known that Mrs. Vaughn was the most outstanding nurse he had ever known, as well as his truest and closest friend.

Services will be 4 PM Sunday at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Father Lincoln Dall officiating. Entombment will be in Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

She is survived by her two children, Timothy M. Robinson (Kathy) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Maria Adkins of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren John S. Allen Jr. (Audrey) and Paige Robinson; three great-grandchildren Natalie, Piper and Jack Allen; two sisters Jane Burroughs Jeffrey of Memphis and Betty Burroughs Garrett (Jerry) of St. John's, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Presley Vaughn, of 32 years; her parents Ola Mae and Jesse Timothy Burroughs; two brothers, Billy Burroughs and George J. (G.J.) Burroughs.

Mrs. Jessie Burroughs Vaughn, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Signature Healthcare in Memphis, Tenn. after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be 4 pm Sunday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Father Lincoln Dall officiating. Entombment will be in the Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation is 2-4 PM Sunday.
